- CPATrendlines.com. The absolute leader in cutting edge CPA, accounting, and tax practice management ideas. The editor, Rick Telberg, attracts experts in the future of CPA, accounting, and tax practice management.
- taxspeaker.com. Bob Jennings’s site isn’t just about tax prep. Bob was the inspiration back in the late 1990’s for our CPA firm going paperless. He’s a top notch presenter as well. We’ve been attending his presentations since we were all much younger and better looking.
- sleeter.com. The Sleeter Group focuses on technology in accounting and tax prep. The annual conference features a who’s who list of forward thinkers in small firm CPA, accounting, and tax practice management.
- verasage.com. The VeraSage Institute is best known for value pricing, but there’s a lot more there. Ed Kless is a thought leader in the professional services practice management field. I have attended a number of Ed’s presentations, including the Sleeter Conference mentioned above. He is a fine presenter even though I probably disagree with him at least half the time. He is always thought provoking, even if occasionally fist pounding the table wrong. I write that with love and a sore fist.
- AccountingWeb.com. This is a wide ranging source of CPA, accounting, and tax practice management advice and much more. The articles are a perfect length for a quick browse during lunch.
- Partners-network.com. Ed Mendlowitz may not be the father of modern CPA, accounting, and tax practice management, but he is at least the crazy uncle. Ed writes extensively for CPATrendlines.com, publishes a crazy number of books, and publishes his own blog. His recommendations are rock solid. He’s not just an expert. He’s walked the walk of firm management, which goes a long way with me.
- nsacct.org. The National Society of Accountants site is way more than just tax, although there’s plenty of that there. The site features great discussion threads on CPA, accounting, and tax practice management from members. The organization is definitely worth joining. They feature advice to practitioners from practitioners.
- theradicalCPA.com. Jody Padar has assembled most of the “Firm of the Future” recommendations in a book. Don’t read it right before bedtime, as it can be scary.
Do you sense a trend in my recommendations? Almost all, but not quite all, are driven by practitioners, not “do as I say, but as I’ve never done” consultants.
Thanks for reading!
